Why subscription calendars don't update instantly
Subscribed calendars update on a delay because calendar apps pull the feed instead of receiving a push. Google, Apple, Outlook, and Skylight each cache an iCal (ICS) subscription and re-check it on their own schedule — typically every few hours — so a GroupMe event added right now normally appears at the next refresh, not immediately.
