Sync GroupMe to Google Calendar
To sync GroupMe to Google Calendar, connect GroupMe in gmCalSync, copy the private iCal link it creates for the group, and add it in Google Calendar under Other calendars → From URL. Google then refreshes that subscription on its own, so GroupMe events keep appearing without any manual copying.

How the sync works
Google Calendar cannot connect to GroupMe on its own. gmCalSync bridges the gap by turning GroupMe events into an iCal (ICS) feed at a private URL that Google already knows how to subscribe to.
Because it is a subscription rather than a one-time import, the calendar stays linked to the feed. Events added or edited in GroupMe flow through on Google's next refresh instead of needing to be re-imported.
Quick steps
- Connect your GroupMe account on gmCalSync.
- Select the GroupMe group you want to sync.
- Copy the private iCal link.
- In Google Calendar on the web, click "+" next to Other calendars and choose "From URL."
- Paste the iCal link and click "Add calendar."

What to expect
- Google refreshes subscribed calendars periodically, so updates can take a little time.
- Each GroupMe group gets its own calendar feed and name.
- The calendar is read-only; events are still managed in GroupMe.
- You can remove the calendar at any time in Google Calendar settings.
Using a different calendar app?
The same private link works elsewhere: add it on iPhone and Apple Calendar, in Outlook, on Android, or on a Skylight Calendar.
Frequently asked questions
How do I sync GroupMe to Google Calendar?
Connect your GroupMe account in gmCalSync, select a group, copy the private iCal link, then add it in Google Calendar using Other calendars → From URL.
Does GroupMe offer calendar sync?
No. GroupMe has no built-in calendar sync. gmCalSync adds it by turning each group's events into a private iCal subscription link that Google Calendar can follow.
Is the GroupMe to Google Calendar sync automatic?
Yes. Google Calendar refreshes subscribed calendars periodically, so new GroupMe events appear automatically after Google updates the feed.
Can I sync multiple GroupMe groups to Google Calendar?
Yes. gmCalSync provides a unique iCal link for each GroupMe group, and you can add each link as a separate calendar in Google Calendar.
Does syncing expose my GroupMe events publicly?
No. gmCalSync uses a private, unlisted iCal subscription link, and the calendar is read-only. Only people you share the link with can see it.
